MOVIE RESEARCH #2: THE KISSING BOOTH

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

The conventions this movie has that I chose was a friend to lover storyline and an obvious romantic obstacle that keeps the main characters apart. The movie is set in high school which is a common setting for teen romance movies. It also includes humor, misunderstandings, and a happy ending to meet the expectations of the audience.


What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked and why?


One connection I liked why the friends to love storyline because it showed an emotional connection before the romance began. The funny moments and lighthearted tones made the movie entertaining to watch. I also enjoyed the hairy ending because it suited the romantic comedy genre. Those conventions are fun and easy to follow.


What conventions did of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are not thinking of filming for your final task and why?


A convention that didn't appeal to me was how exaggerated some of the dramas was. Some conflicts felt unrealistic because they could've been solved with communication between the characters. For my final task, In would avoid using overly dramatic misunderstandings so that my story will feel more realistic and focused on emotional growth.

FINAL TASK: FILMING AT OUR LOCATIONS

  Our dates for filming has changed significantly as time progressed. As distance is a key factor in our production process, we have had to resort to us putting separate videos together. Our first plan to film at Zariah’s house fell  through because  they had a family emergency that day. This led to us having to scramble together to have our film dates together. We did panic at a point in time which led us to separate from each other. This separation bridged us apart from each other. We did have a couple of disagreements when we were in contact with each other. Our pettiness did get the best of us at times. However, all of us Me, Zariah and Saja came to the realization that this project needs to be done. As a unit we must come together for the sake of our short film.
